Solar Electric Power
Solar electric power will reduce your monthly energy cost. It also will give you energy independence. How would you like off grid solar power?
Have you ever dreamed of being completely self sufficient? If so, you probably have considered adding solar electric power to your home.
If you are looking into using residential solar electric power, then you might want to consider building a new home.
Why Build A New Home To Use Solar Electric Power?
A new home would have certain advantages. I would not recommend going out and constructing a home solely for the purpose of using solar electric power.
While home solar energy is very eco friendly, it is as eco unfriendly as constructing and entire new home can be. If you plan to move anyway, then this would be a perfect time to put solar electric power in your new home.
You also can add solar electric power to your existing home. All you need is a solar panel or two. Solar power installations are simple and easy. For most homeowners this is a do-it-yourself operation.
At the same time you may want to replace you old appliance and windows with new appliances and windows. The old ones usually are the biggest things to suck the energy out of your older home.
Before you add some solar electric power to your current home, you really should consider updating all of that old equipment you have.
Another thing to consider is your insulation. Today’s insulation is much more energy efficient. It easily can be installed into a new home. Adding and updating insulation in your older home can be costly and may not be as effective.
Many of our older homes were built when energy was cheaper. Those homes were not designed to be heated efficiently. You could have a difficult time in trying to make them more energy friendly. At least you can add the solar panels.
Your older home may not be situated on a good lot for adding solar panels. There is not much that you can do about it if your yard is a rare one located in the shade all day. That would not make adding solar electric power a good idea for you.
If you purchase a new home you might decide to go all out and buy one near running water. Then you could add hydro power too.
Hydro power is a wonderful supplement to solar electric power. On the rainy days the hydro power will generate more energy. On the sunny days the solar power will generate more energy.
There are good reasons for installing solar electric power in a new home and for adding it to your current one. Whichever way you decide to do it, you will decrease your monthly energy costs forever.
